Yes. All international travelers (except India, Bangladesh, and Maldives) must apply for a Bhutan visa through a licensed tour operator. Indian travelers only need a valid passport or voter ID along with the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF).

Bhutan charges an SDF to support tourism and preserve its natural environment.

• For other nationals: USD 100 per person per night
  This fee is mandatory and paid before your trip.

The ideal months are March–May (spring) and September–November (autumn). Weather is clear, views are stunning, and major festivals like Paro Tshechu also happen in these seasons. Winter is great for budget-friendly and peaceful travel.

A typical Bhutan itinerary ranges from 5 to 7 days, covering popular places like Thimphu, Paro, and Punakha. If you want trekking or deeper cultural experiences, 9–12 days is recommended.
